Kayla Amor from East London was on the brink of professional success when she suffered a breakdown whilst fronting a headlining orchestral UK house and garage tour which she now understands was caused by misdiagnosed mental health issues and negative lifestyle choices and circumstances.
She was introduced to Key Changes charity having fallen out of love with music. Key Changes label supports artists experiencing conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD and bipolar disorder and is the world’s first label for musicians with mental health experience.
Her debut release on the label is a three track single/EP with "Strong Enough" being a bittersweet tale of a past difficult relationship with an accompanying video in which she co-stars with Top Boy actor Shone Romulus. I note that a remix of "Strong Enough" is set for release on 27 Apr, a "Musical D Remix".
All three tracks on the EP are solid with "Slow Down" probably my favourite, but "Born Again" is also a good track.
Thanks to Leigh Taylor for highlighting this one to me which has been out a couple of weeks since 13 Apr.
