Global Soul Chart 23rd Apr 2022 (Week 16)

23rd Apr 2022

The Global Soul chart broadcast on Sat 23rd Apr as it is every Saturday between  5pm-7pm (GMT) on Global Soul Radio.

This week Dean 'Mr Undercover' Jackson was covering for Franklin Sinclair. Each week around a dozen or more 'Breakers' are interspersed with chart entries. These will be posted separately.

Eric Roberson's album "Lessons" lasted just one week at the top being replaced by UK's Akemi Fox. There are five new entries, none of which have broken into the top 10. However, there are five others which have moved into the top 10 with the highest climber being NiqueB. The biggest faller is T'Neeya falling 12 places to the bottom position.

The three predicted to go last week did go along with The Degrees and Jahriffe and two of the five tips to enter have done so i.e. Secret Soul Society and 2018 X Factor contestant Shan Ako.

Exits are much harder to gauge this week but T'Neeya is definitely a goner and I would guess Parkes Stewart, Truth Hurts, Lindsay Lucas and possibly Syd. I think we also might see a big nose dive for Tarrey Torae as it's on the decline and has been on the chart for several weeks now.

I suggested that Samuel Archer, released last week, could get a look in soon enough and I think he may make quite a high appearance next week as the album seems to get getting much attention. Some other outsiders include Clowette, CARRTOONS, Sanura & Raheem DeVaughn and, in the not too distant future, Reuben James after his new album is released on Friday as, having already heard the album, there are some good new tracks on it (e.g. Searching, BBQ Energy, Wings Of A Butterfly)... a potential future #1?

As an aside, I have no affinity to any of the charts posted (including the SoulStrutter Top 30, which has been missing for three weeks, as this just represents what has been most viewed on the blog in the last 30 days). They are posted for information only. There are tracks I, and probably you, like and dislike on all, as is the way. As you may have already witnessed, they are becoming increasingly more diverse from each other and, as such, each has its own merits in highlighting what is currently being most played on internet soul radio.
