I don't know what the story is behind this release. It is 'presumably' a
previously unreleased track from a nine piece 70s funk band
Pure Funk. from San Francisco. The group consisted of Bill Speed (alto sax & vocals), Thomas Griffin (lead vocals), John Kainlauri (trumpet, bg vocals), Steve Scales (drums), Griff Williams (guitar, bg vocals), Ray Evans (baritone sax), Anthony Johnson (keyboards, bg vocals), Robert Jacobs (tenor sax, flute, bg vocals), and Robert Hart (bass guitar, bg vocals).
They have only one single listed "Get Away" / "Nothing Left Is Real" from 1976 which seems to be the only release on Planet Earth records but was reissued
in 2013 by Alexis. (included below to satisfy curiosity).
They have other (unreleased?) material as "Free And Easy" and three other songs were included in a 2015 movie "The Night Is Young".
"Free and Happy" is a far more mellow affair and obviously also recorded in the
early/mid 70s (and has that Bay Area sound a la Tower Of Power), but released today (7 Jan 2021).
