Brittany Turnipseed is from Columbia, SC. and released a debut single "Love
Drunk" in Oct 2018. Last week (17 Aug 2021) she released her first EP "The Intro: Focused" which contains six
tracks, one of them being "Love Drunk". Another track featured on the EP is
"Beautiful Ur" which she performed in 2018 for a Tiny Desk contest (video
below) and is also the only track on her SoundCloud page.
It's pleasant to hear a 'proper' singer for a change away from the wispy neo soul vocals. She is obviously (or at least sounds like) a trained jazz vocalist and was an Apollo Amateur Night winner in 2018.
The outstanding track is "Right Here" followed by "Love Drunk" but the whole EP is pretty good, especially for a debut. The first five tracks are soul/jazz with the last track being 80s inspired more jazz/funk style tune, vocoder and all, with a hint of the blues!
With a bit of further digging I discovered that she was a featured vocalist on couple of tracks on a 2014 album by Jmichael Peeples called "Enigma".
