A new album from Jerry Harris from New York who is mainly a reggae singer who has been recording
since 1981. He has released literally dozens of albums and has released
three albums in June alone and now this one in July which looks like his
seventh this year already. He has a 'lived in' voice which is no wonder
with all the songs he's recorded!
I would hazard a guess that his name is actually Allan Donavan Harris as
that's what's on the writing credits for most tracks.
This album "Self Love" (released 22 Jul 2021) may be one of only a few excursions into soul
music and there are some quite good tracks on the album, too many to list
(the album has 16 tracks!), so give it a whirl and see what you
think!
My personal highlights include "No Anxiety", "Only A Fool Would Let You Getaway", "Know About It" and the jazz flavoured "Stop Crying For Love". The last five tracks are jazzy boogie/funk style instrumentals.
