Last month I posted the new single from
Jennifer Hudson "Here I Am (Singing My Way Home)" from the forthcoming biopic "Respect" soundtrack in which she stars
as Aretha Franklin. The song is an original and not a song recorded by
Franklin (also posted below).
Yesterday (16 Jul 2021) the next single from the soundtrack was drip fed.
It's a her version of one of Aretha's most iconic songs from 1967 written
by Carol King, Gerry Goffin & Jerry Wexler which should need no
introduction "(You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman". JHud does not let us down on her rendition which is a good teaser for
the movie due out in less than a month's time.
The movie and full album are due for release on 13 Aug 2021. The soundtrack will contain JHud's rendition of 16 Aretha classics along with the original song already issued as a single and one other non-Aretha track. They are much as you would expect from her 60s era (i.e. none later) except for an unusual song choice "Nature Boy" (first recorded in 1948 by Nat King Cole) which I can find no trace of her recording, but perhaps she sang it in her shows or it's a bit of poetic licence?
