Parkes Stewart [2022] - Don't Forget [Eat Music Group]

As it's the fourth Thursday in November, it's Thanksgiving Day in the US today and the Americans seem to love their holiday songs far more than we do in the UK. I guess it's because there is just a month between Thanksgiving, when the festive spirit begins, and Christmas.

So to kick it off Parkes Stewart has released a holiday song "Don't Forget" which is EXCLUSIVELY available from EatMusicGroup. (NOTE it will NOT be available on the usual digital platforms!) A nice soulful song with a message, which brings out his gospel roots in sections, and has a steppers groove. I think it may be one of the best original songs he's done recently.

The song was written and produced by Parkes Stewart and Turhan Terrell who is the Musical Director for the Four Tops. It honours loved ones who are no longer with us and reminds us not to forget just how fortunate we are to have everything we have most importantly, family. 

Parkes is a sought after Grammy nominated songwriter, producer, and speaker who has released four albums and five singles to date, the last being a tribute to The Whispers with a cover of "And The Beat Goes On".

He sang background vocals and wrote many songs for the 80s/90s urban contemporary gospel group Commissioned and also wrote songs recorded by Yolanda Adams ("Open Arms" and "More Than Just A Melody" also recorded by Ashanti), Dave Hollister ("Ordinary Just Won’t Do") and 3m selling "Cry On" for 112 on the tribute to Notorious B.I.G.

Soul singer and multi platinum hit songwriter Parkes Stewart is back with a fitting tribute to the legendary group The Whispers. It follows the success of his last single "Blackpearl".

He treats this classic hit "And The Beat Goes On" with the utmost care and masterfully presents it in a smooth, soulful and classy way. It was posted on promo earlier this week and is now available on all the digital platforms today (16 Sep 2022).

If you haven't seen it already, The Whispers themselves have also just re-recorded it and released it on Friday (9 Sep) naming it "Whispers' Radio Edit".

Parkes explains that his objective to be the ("nexus" meaning connection) linking our humanity and spirituality. His intention is to look for the purity in the love relationship between husband and wife, man and brother, and God and man. Parkes’ music has something for everyone, for people who have experienced divorce, the young person with potential who just needs a helping hand, and for the burdened soul who needs God.

For Parkes, it has always been more than music. It is about keeping it real and dealing with issues that are usually swept under the carpet. The music then becomes not just an expression of what he does, but is something he truly is.

His last single "Clear Your Mind" was released last August  and a video for it is posted below.
