Muni Long feat. Usher [2023] - Hrs & Hrs (Remix) [Supergiant Records]

Muni Long certainly 'can' do this for "Hrs & Hrs" as this must be at least the fifth time she's released it or a version of it. 

We've posted three of them, the Amazon exclusive "Hrs & Hrs Jazzy Hrs" (Feb '22), on her "Public Displays of Affection" album (Sep '22), and now this Remix featuring Usher which retains the songs original structure with an added verse for Usher. They performed the song live last month at one of Ushers' concerts.

The song was originally recorded for her EP version of  Public Displays of Affection" in Nov '21 (which was later extended and became the album in Sep '22) and again on "Baby Boo" EP in Jun '22. She has also done a Spanish language version of the song. There are also plenty of remixes and covers of the song. Someone has even done an unofficial mashup with it and Beyonce's "Rocket" (included below along with a video for the original version).

Needless to say, the song has over 175m streams on Spotify alone and she won her first Grammy with it for Best R&B Performance at this year's Grammy Awards.

Muni Long [2023] - Superstar [Spotify Singles]

Muni Long has a double single release on 30 Jan '23, but they are only available on Spotify to stream! 

The first is a Spanish language version of "Hrs And Hrs" as "Horas y Horas" and on the featured track she admirably tackles The Carpenter's "Superstar" which was written by Bonnie Bramlett and Leon Russell and released as a single in 1971 from there self-titled album.

The song was made memorable for soul listeners by Luther's rendition on which he blended it with "Until You Come Back To Me" written by Stevie Wonder and of course recorded by Aretha. It first featured on his third solo album "Busy Body" in 1983  and was then released as a single in 1984 becoming his seventh R&B chart Top 10 hit reaching #5.

It's a shame it's not available to buy. She did another exclusive last year with an Amazon Original of the best version of "Hrs And Hrs Jazzy Hrs"

Muni Long [2022] - Public Displays Of Affection: The Album (Clean) [Supergiant Records] (Full Album)

Whilst Muni Long release an album/EP of the same name last Nov, and a five track EP "Public Displays Of Affection Too" in July, the new version adds the five songs from the EP along with another six. One track from the original album "Just Beginning (Live)" has been omitted.

The new tracks are: 1 -"Conversation",4 - "Lemons", 8 - "Plot Twist" 9 - "Plot Twist (Interlude)", 11 - "Butterfly" and 12 "Words".

Muni Long is Priscilla Renea Hairston (nee Hamilton) who released her debut "Jukebox" (2009) and sophomore album "Coloured" (2018) under the name Priscila Renea later changing it to Muni (pronounced money not mooni) Long in 2020.

A track from the original release of "Public Displays Of Attention" "Hrs and Hrs" was been remixed in clean and explicit versions and retitled "Hrs and Hrs Jazzy Hrs" and released via Amazon (only) in Feb 2022). It was a great improvement to the original with tempo uplifted. It's the only time until now she has featured on the blog as much of her music is pop/R&B.

Now whilst I accept that there are 18 tracks, I think charging £17.82 for a digital album, of which 3/4 of it has been previously released, is extracting the urine!

A track from her 2021 EP/album "Public Displays Of Attention" "Hrs and Hrs" has been remixed in clean and explicit versions and are available ONLY on Amazon (released today 24 Feb 2022). I think its a great improvement to the original with tempo uplifted. 

I've included the original version's audio and video for comparison.

Another version was released only last week (14 Feb) by Jayse.
