X-Ray Ted [2023] - Talkin' / So Much [Bombstrikes Records]

Bristol (UK) based DJ/producer X-Ray Ted (Andreas Niklas) states that his mission is to bring smiles to faces and he certainly has done that with a pair of mashups put out yesterday on Bandcamp.  They're also available on other platforms.

The lead track "Talkin'" uses Bottom & Co's 1974 Motown rarity "Gonna Find A True Love" which I'm amazed to see now fetches up to £460 with only one currently for sale at £485.64 on Discogs. I'm so glad I managed to snag one way back in the day for a fraction of that price! The song was also recorded by The Patterson Twins in 1978 at a more frantic pace. It is even more expensive and only available on 7" as a promo but was released on their first album  "Let Me Be Your Lover" which is also a very expensive item but has been reissued a couple of times on both LP and CD.

The flip uses another Motown song, Diana Ross & The Supremes' "He's My Sunny Boy" which was originally the flip to "Someday We'll Be Together" in 1969 which actually surprised me as I thought it was earlier than that.

Thanks on this one to Gary Van Den Bussche who sent it over this morning.

MasterSwitch [2022] - Loving You Still (Thicke Green Al Mash) [Self Released]

I've no idea why he has chosen the cover sleeve for this as it predominantly uses an acapella version of Al Green's "Let's Stay Together" for this mash-up. There are a few other bits n pieces in there, some sounding very like Marvin Gaye.

MasterSwitch is a DJ/Remixer from New York and has a few other mash-ups on his Bandcamp channel including two mashed versions of Maze's "Before I Let Go" with Beyonce's 2020 live version, which I think works better than this one, so it's been posted separately.

MasterSwitch [2022] - B4 Letting U Go (Mashed By Switch) [Self Released]

Like the proverbial London bus, no sooner does one turn up then there's another! Having already posted a Maze mash-up of "Twilight" earlier I came across another by New York's DJMasterMix, this time it uses Maze's "Before I Let Go" (1981) and Beyonce's live version, which was a bonus track on "Homecoming: The Live Album" (2020).

It also sounds to me like it has elements of Fatback Band "I Found Loving" in the intro?
