Gil [2023] - Nothing (Leslie's Song) [GSJ Records]

A new single from Gil (Gilbert Steven Johnson) has been around almost a month. He has featured here a couple of times in the last few years. First with a cover of the Galaxy / Rockie Robbins song "You & Me" in Apr '21 (from his debut album "Sometimes A Man") and then with another cover, this time of The Isley Brothers', "You're Beside Me" last Feb ('22).

The new song "Nothing (Leslie's Song)" looks like an original as his name along with AyRon Lewis are on writing credits, although it does sound a little familiar but perhaps just similar as it's a nice mid-tempo stepper with a little jazz interlude for good measure?

Gil [2022] - You're Beside Me [Self Released]

Gil (Gilbert Steven Johnson) featured on the blog with his last single which was a cover of Galaxy (1978) / Rockie Robbins (1980) song "You & Me" from the debut album "Sometimes A Man" in April 2021 .

He released a new single on Friday (4 Feb 2022) "You're Beside Me" which is another cover, this time of The Isley Brothers song from their 1979 album "Winner Takes All". It features jazz guitarist Doc Powell.
