Last week Numero Group released a single by The Newday who evolved from
The Passions who El (Eldridge) Anthony was a member of. Their
latest reissue is "I Want To Be Together With You" which was El Anthony's second solo single
for La Cindy in 1971. The song was co-written by co-label owner Hillery
Johnson and Otis Brown.
The song ticks all the boxes for me, as it has across the board appeal to the rare soul scene and probably even the lowrider scene. Just a great piece of
early 70s rare soul music.
It's quite a pricey item on original vinyl and prices are all over the
place with only two currently for sale, both in same condition, with one
priced at $150 and the other $599. I think the seller is chancing it as the
highest price paid is £387! (on both Discogs and Popsike).
