DeRobert & The Half-Truths [2023] - Judgement (G.E.D. Soul Version) [G.E.D. Soul Records]

A storming new digital release from DeRobert & The Half-Truths with a vocal and instrumental G.E.D. Soul Version of "Judgement". It is very reminiscent of James Brown / Gene Chandler "There Was A Time".

It's in line with their single "100 Yard Dash" released almost two years ago in Apr '21 which the followed with an album of the same name in Jun that year.

It's the Nashville, TN, based group's first release for almost a year since "Just Friends" in April last year.

The single has already been released on 7" vinyl by Colemine in 2018 and on a compilation "Colemine Breaks" in Sep '21 but I assume with the sub title that this is a new mix as the tempo has been upped from 158 to 162. Original included below for comparison.

DeRobert & The Half-Truths [2022] - Just Friends [G.E.D. Soul Records]

More retro soul, that many would describe as 'proper', from DeRobert (Adams) & The Half-Truths out of Nashville, TN.

Their latest single "Just Friends" is a 60s style deep soul tune released last week (8 Apr 2022).

DeRobert & The Half-Truths [2021] - 100 Yard Dash [G.E.D. Soul Records] (Full Album)

At the end of April I posted the title track from DeRobert & The Half-Truth's then forthcoming album which is now released on 4 Jun 2021. "100 Yard Dash" c/w  "It's All The Time" were released as a 7" single back then.

It's another of those where you question whether it's an album or EP? I would classify it as an EP as there are only seven tracks and two of those are interludes of less than a minute long.

All five tracks are pretty good and will appeal to traditionalists. I would say that two tracks are neo Northern Soul ("100 Yard Dash" & "Mind Your Own Business"), one a crossover style tune ("Flaws And All"), another is quite funky "It's All The Time" and the last one "Walk Forward" is more tricky to pigeon-hole, some would say crossover, others mid-tempo Northern, with others saying it's neither,  regardless, I think it may be my favourite track alongside "Flaws And All".

DeRobert & The Half-Truths [2021] - 100 Yard Dash [G.E.D. Soul]

The latest release from Nashville,TN, based G.E.D. Soul records is the title track from a forthcoming album by DeRobert & The Half-Truths. The single was released digitally on 2 Apr 2021 and will be available on vinyl with 'It's All Time' on the flip on the same day as the album release.

G.E.D. is owned by two of the band members Dave Singleton (bass) and Nick DeVann (drums) and has been releasing material from their Poor Man's Studios since 2008.

The track is a neo funky Northern Soul style tune with a backing which reminds me of Curtis Mayfield's 'Move On Up' in parts.
