Curtis Mayfield [1987] - Move On Up [Live @Parkpop, The Haque 1987]

An interlude from the new releases as this has just come up on our YouTube feed: Curtis Mayfield performing "Move On Up" live in 1987 at Parkpop, The Hague, so we just had to share it.

The Parkpop is one of the longest running festivals in Europe. It runs annually from The Hague (situated on the outskirts of Rotterdam) and is free admission.

Curtis Mayfield - Various albums available digitally today

The timing may seem random, but a host of Curtis Mayfield albums, including a few compilations, have appeared on Amazon today. If it were his birthday (i.e. 3 Jun when he would have been 81) then there would be some logic, but perhaps they are getting them in early.

Also, many of them are not available on Spotify and, from a quick check, it would also appear that some of these may be the first time available digitally? So it's handy if you have some gaps in your Curtis Mayfield collection.
Mayfield released around 17 solo studio albums as well as 4 live albums and 6 soundtracks between 1970 and 1996. Nine were R&B Top 10 with six of these reaching #1. In addition he recorded 12 albums with The Impressions between 1963-70, six of which were R&B Top 10.

He was inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1999 but was unable to attend the ceremony due to ill health and died later that year aged 57 owing to complications of type 2 diabetes due to which he had his right leg amputated in 1998.

We found 9 studio albums, a live album and 3 compilations all in today's listings.
