Last year Athens Of The North reissued Crystal Winds 1982 album "First Flight" (which has been reissued several times, in 2003, twice in 2014 and in
2020) with, what I originally thought was, an additional, previously unreleased, track "Maybe What You Do Comes Back To You". However, a regular reader (USMAN47) has pointed out that it is actually part 2 of the original track "It's a Wonderous Thing" which AOTN have 'chopped' in two.
Yesterday I posted the
first single
to be released by AOTN from the album. They are also releasing "Lovers Holiday" c/w "Love Ain't Easy (Pt 1)" on the same day (i.e. 27 Aug 2021), also available on vinyl 7", which
surprisingly isn't currently listed on their
BandCamp store,
but I did find both singles available to pre-order on
Juno.
There is a another track titled "Love Ain't Easy (Pt 2)" on the
album which is a shorter song which is unrecognisable to part 1 so I
assume it is a different song, part 1 is a driving traditional modern soul
tune whilst part 2 has more of a steppers vibe, and there is also
another track similar to "Love Ain't Easy Pt 2" titled "Funk Ain't Easy"
which is the outro to the album.
Crystal Winds consisted of three former members of Rasputin Stash, Paul
Coleman, Martin Dumas and Frank Donaldson, along with Morris Cortez
Brown and vocalist Theresa Davis who was a cousin of the Hutchinson
sisters (i.e. The Emotions), who she sang with when Jeanette left to get
married (and became Jeanette Hawes) in the 70s but was later replaced by
another Hutchinson sister, Pamela. She sang on their 1977 album
"Sunshine".
