Having released a few duets in recent months with Sugar Rainbow and Laura Rain in 2021, Detroit's Al Lindsey is back with one on his own titled "Fabulous" released on 18 Feb '23. It has backing that reminds me of something similar which I can't quite place. It's that riff right at the beginning that has me scratching my head.

UK based singer/songwriter Sugar Rainbow has collaborated with Detroit's
Al Lindsey on a lovely smooth soul song "Something Special" set for release on 8 Dec '22.
Al Lindsey was born in a small town Gordonsville, VA. He moved
to Detroit at the age of eleven. He found a voice for singing at the
age of twelve and as a young lad at the age of fourteen he was to sing
lead in the adult church choir. Al was performing in nightclubs at the
tender age of sixteen.
As a Detroiter it is only reasonable he would be influenced by the
sounds of Motown, with David Ruffin and Marvin Gaye as his childhood
idols. Back in the day, Al was to perform with the current Four
Top Lawrence Payton Jr prior to pursuing a solo career. His
first recording was a single "Always On My Mind" in 1989, he has now recorded five albums "Caught" (2005), "So In Love" (2007), "Can You Handle This?" (2011), "Love You More" (2016) and "Versatility" (2018). His last collaboration was with Detroiter Laura Rain on "Claim It" in April 2021.
Sugar Rainbow is of Apache mixed heritage and grew up
in Holland. She is known for her five-octave soprano range. On her
musical journey she has lived and worked in Holland, Belgium,
France, Spain, Africa, USA, and England as a
singer/songwriter.
In her late teens she was part of duo Sugar & Spice with a
keyboard player. She then set up a recording studio in her spare
room at her home in Holland and recorded her first two albums "Magic
Touch" and "Awareness" along with an EP. She then moved to South
Africa where the albums were well received.
When she returned to England she signed up with a production
company specialising in pop/rock music and recorded another album
and then hooked up with a sound engineer who was working for the
Spice Girls and recorded another two albums "Invisible Life" and
"Independent Dreams". She was invited to sing lead in a
band with some great musicians. A few years later they decided to
form their own 7-piece band called Soul Dimension singing funky
party songs and entertaining at various functions.

Almost exactly a year after his last single with Laura Rain "Claim It", Al Lindsey is back with a new single "Only You" due for release on 23 Mar 2022.
Al is originally from Gordonsville, VA, but is now native to Detroit, MI.
He debuted in 2005 with a CD album "Caught" and has since released another four to date.
