Grainger are bassist Gary Grainger and drummer Greg Grainger from Baltimore, MD who are a highly sought after and respected rhythm section and have been playing together for four decades. They have a resume that includes such luminaries as Nancy Wilson, Santana, Earth Wind & Fire, Kim Waters, Maysa Leak, Lonnie Liston Smith, Whitney Houston, Peaches and Herb. You may know them from the 70s group Pockets where a third brother Glenn was trumpeter and Gary on bass!
Their trio series of Phase albums ("Phase I" (1998) "Phases II" (2002) and "Phases III" (2016/2019)) have included a host of guest musicians such as Dan Reynolds, Marshall Keys, Kirk Whalum, Bryan Fox, Moe Daniels, Benjie Porecki, Chris Fisher, Skip Pruitt, Paul Jackson Jr, Robert “Wa Wa” LeGrand, Paul Reed Smith, Jonathan Josane Lesane, along with vocalists Carmael Frith, Tré Soul The Artist and T’Hai.
A track from "Phases III" "You Never" has just been given a "UK Sultry Mix" on 1 Oct 2022. I've been unable to discover categorically who the female vocalist is but I suspect that it's Carmael Frith who is included on writing credits.
