Deva Mahal (pronounce Diva) is originally from Hawaii, discovering her
voice in New Zealand and then moving to New York in 2018 releasing her
debut album "Run Deep". They say 'the apple doesn't fall far from the tree' and she is the daughter of legendary blues man Taj Mahal.
She toured the world performing at some of the
most prestigious venues and festivals (Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall,
the Montreal Jazz Festival, Byron Bay Blues Festival, North Sea Jazz
Festival, London Jazz Festival).
In 2020 she featured as a vocalist on Ledisi's Grammy award winning album
"The Wild Card".
The same year she returned to New Zealand and following surgery and the
Covid-19 pandemic has been delving deeper into her song writing and
production skills and is working on a new project.
Her new single "Run Me Through" is the first of many songs as a part of her upcoming two part EP
release series titled "Future Classic: Vol 1 - Classic" and "Future Classic: Vol 2 - Future".
