You may recall a single by Ego Ella May a couple of months back with her version of Chico Hamilton's "Morning Side Of Love". Well that was one of the first tracks pre-released from a forthcoming
compilation "Blue Note Re:Imagined II" which is due for release on 30 Sep 2022.
Last Friday another track, "Through The Noise (Chant #2)" was set loose from Nubiyan Twist which is their take
on Donald Byrd's "Chant" (written by Duke Pearson) originally from "A New Perspective" in 1963 but he re-recorded it as
the title track for a 1979 Blue Note album.
Nubiyan Twist is an Afro-Jazz collective from Leeds and London led by Tom Excell. They have added lyrics and given the original be bop classic some broken beats and afro rhythms.
