Another rarity reissued digitally by Federal Green. This one is
from The Past - Present And The Future "If I Could Live For Eternity" / "When I Was A Kid".
The group who where formerly (not
formally as it states on the original Rouser label ... were they dressed in suits as ties
as The Mandells but not as TP&TF? lol) The Mandells.
However, there were several 60s/70s groups known as the Mandells. If they
recorded as the Mandells then the most likely candidate is the Chicago
group, but they recorded on Trans World Sound which they owned, so why
record on another label?
The Rouser label was based in Washington D.C. run by Tommy Rouse and
issued only three singles, the first being The Butlers Feat. Frankie
Beverly and their Northern Soul tune "Because Of My Heart".
The group released another single "(You Layed Your) Love On The Line" / "Too Many Fish" on Maryland label Juldane in 1974.
It's quite intriguing how things interrelate as the song's writer for both sides of the Juldane single was Joe Phillips. He played guitar for The Manhattans and later became music director for Al Wilson and also worked with Barry White and The Love Unlimited Orchestra, Martha Reeves and The Soul Train Gang. He was also a member of The Winstons whose "Color Him Father" was also coincidentally posted today for Father's Day!
