Sophie Lloyd is a DJ with over 15 years experience so she knows a thing or two about what moves a dancefloor. Testament to that is her debut single "Calling Out Your Name" from 2018 which is a banging gospel/house dancefloor anthem featuring Dames Brown which has received 10m streams, mind you there are about a dozen different mixes of it (so now you know why they do so many mixes!).
Her third single "Angels By My Side" was released on Friday (11 Mar 2022) picked up by Andy Tee for inclusion on the UK Soul Chart Breakers show on Sat night.
As you'd expect it comes with two mixes, The 7" Version, weighing in at a 'measly' 3:47, along with the full monty 7:24 extended version. This time vocal duties are undertaken by Pauline Taylor who was primary vocalist for 90s/00s London band Faithless and featured on both of Dido's albums. This distinctly reminds me of 'something' and sounds a bit like something M People might have recorded as Pauline's voice sounds similar to Heather Small's.
I like this (a guilty pleasure), especially the gospel tones of Pauline Taylor's voice. It is 'irritatingly' catchy and could well be a crossover hit. A good find Mr. Tee, I completely missed it.
