Even Funkier is London DJ Tom Whittaker who's released
a new single "Bernard's Right" on 14 Feb 2022. It sounds like a mashup of several tunes, one of which
I recognise that kicks in around 1:30 but can't recall what it's called,
but think it's from the late 80s/90s (I can even hear the tune in my head
and sure it was a backing for a rap tune). Some parts also sound like they
could be sampled from Crown Heights Affair? I'm sure you will probably
recognise/know it, answers on a postcard!
UPDATE: I set the soul hound DJ Kool Keith on the case and he's identified what seems obvious now (clue in the title!) that one of the tracks is Bernard Wright "Spinnin'" from 1981 and/or Skee-Lo "I Wish" from 1995 (which is the rap track I was thinking of but couldn't remember the name of) which samples "Spinnin'". KK thinks both are used.
Another little anecdote, Bernard Wright is the son of Roberta Flack who was married to jazz bassist Steve Novosel (his father) between 1966-72.
