Well 'apparently' SoulTracks claimed on 19 Oct that they had a 'world
premiere' of this track. It's just foolish to make these sorts of bold
statements as obviously they didn't little or no research before making
their 'claim' otherwise they would have known that it was posted on Soul&Jazz&Funk on 13 Oct the sound file was
posted here on 14 Oct
yet neither felt the need to make any 'exclusivity' claims as there is
simply no need! Anyway, as it is being released today digitally, and
available to pre-order on vinyl, it is being re-posted in order to promote
the tune not to make any fallacious claim of being 'first'!
Laura Rain & The Caesars were formed by Detroit couple Laura Rain and husband George Friend
in 2012 and debuted with an album 'Electrified' in 2013, followed up by 'Closer' in 2014, 'Gold' in 2015 and 'Walk With Me' in 2018.
They really broke through in 2021 starting with the release of "Closer To the Win" in January. They subsequently signed a record deal in the UK with LRK
Records and released "I Am" in May. Rain also featured on Al Lindsey's "Claim It" which got a vinyl release on MD Records.
Also this year they won three Detroit Music Awards and finished their
fifth full length album "Rise Again" which is set for release on a limited edition vinyl LP. "Rise
Again" is a treasure chest of stone cold Motor City soul gems written by
Laura and George which exemplify their modern vintage sound and is due in
early 2022.
The title track is being released as a single and is a result of a
collaboration with Seattle based beat maker and producer UNKWN which
merges the roots of Detroit soul with contemporary sample based
production. The haunting piano refrain meets the gospel tinged voices and
Hammond organ effortlessly, giving Rain the space to deliver her
inspirational message of hope, equality, healing and triumph. I think this
could be the best single to date!
