When you think on Bloodstone I guess most of us would automatically think
of their first and biggest hit (and only hit in UK) "Natural High", but
they did have another five R&B top 10 hits including the follow up
"Never Let You Go" which was actually released as a promo before "Natural
High" and then reissued after their hit in 1972. This particular track, written by group member Harry Williams, sounds like it could have been written/recorded by Johnny Bristol.
They are from Kansas City, MI, and were formed in 1962 as The Sinceres who, after relocating to L.A., cut a 45 on Paul Gayten's Pzazz label in 1968 which
is a bit of an in-demander for the sweet soul topside "Don't Waste My Time" and the Northern Soul stormer "Girl, I Love You" on the flip.
By 1971 they changed their name to Bloodstone and relocated to London and went on to have five R&B top 10 hits from thirteen entries.
In 1978 they signed to Motown and released one album "Don't Stop" from which "Just Wanna Get The Feel Of It" was the only single released which picked up spins on the UK modern soul scene.
