Tower Of Power [2022] - You're Still a Young Man (Edit) [Warner Music]

I've no idea what has pre-empted the digital reissue of this Tower Of Power classic "You're Still A Young Man" from 1972 featuring Rick Stevens on lead vocals prior to Lenny Williams becoming their lead singer in 1973, but I'm certainly not complaining.

It's subtitled (Edit) which it is from the full length 5:36  "Bump City" album version (included below), but is the same length as the original single release.

Tower Of Power [1997] - It Really Doesn't Matter [Epic #EK 68002]

A track picked up on by UK modern soul scene from Tower Of Power 1997 'Rhythm & Business' album. It features Brent Carter on lead vocals who has also recently appeared on a couple of other projects: 'Work To Do' and is lead on Output/Input's current single 'Can't Hide Love'.

Tower Of Power [2020] - Addicted To You

From their brand new album 'Step Up' just released on 20th Mar 2020.  'Addicted To You' has 70s feel to it and is paced just above mid-tempo making it perfect for the dancefloor.

This is Tower Of Power's 21st studio album and 4th of the new millennium since their first 'East Bay Grease' in 1970. A full 50 years recording history and on the strength of this track back to their very best.

10 Versions of 'Dead'

Following on from the Salvation post and the eccentricities of Major Bill Smith, (William Arthur Smith) here's another track that the squeezed his money's worth out of.  'Dead' / 'I Don't Care No More'

Written by Moses Dillard and Joe Huffman, the track has been recorded by several artists. They lyric changes on different releases - I believe the original had 'razor in my hand ' but was changed to 'phone in my hand' on many recordings.

P.S.  Major Bill was notorious in claiming that he Knew Elvis Presley and that he was still alive. Have  look here.  He even released a cassette in 1981 entitled Elvis Lives.

Tower Of Power Feat. Lydia Pense [1972] - Dead [Blue Thumb BTS 6004]

Lydia Pense (of Cold Blood) along with Tower of Power covered this tune on an album called 'Lights Out San Francisco' that goes on for 7:11 min.
