Ginton & Koba Brown Feat. Masra & Randell Heye [2023] - Maybe Tomorrow [Flying Dog Records]

Something a little different, soulful reggae from Ginton & Koba Brown Feat. Masra & Randell Heye with a single called "Maybe Tomorrow". Out of Jamaica?  You would assume, but no, Ginton is an artist, guitarist, producer from Amsterdam.

It's only his third single having released his first "Easy" in Jul 2020 followed by "Steady Ease" in Jan this year.

 

Ramon Ginton started as a guitar player at the age of 11 and worked as a session musician for several Dutch artists developing into a  producer who has produced for artists such as Drake, Rico Nasty, Wizkid and Stonebwoy and has worked on a Billboard #1 hit and achieved three double platinum and four gold records.

I can't find any info on the artist but he does have a YouTube channel with material going back nine years.

Matt Hoy [2021] - Wonderland [Wonderland Productions]

I posted this earlier in the week at which point it was credited as Matt Hoy featuring Dessy Di Lauro. It's interesting to note that now it's released today (14 May 2021) it's credited only to Matt Hoy! Ms Di Lauro shouldn't be too happy about that as it is her vocal, as far as I'm concerned, that lifts this track!

In a pretty poor week, so far, regarding quality new releases, I'm afraid this one stands out from most of the rest, even though it's basically a reggae soul tune.

Matt Hoy Feat. Dessy Di Lauro [2021] - Wonderland - A SoulTracks Premiere

SoulTracks has scooped another exclusive, as they did last week with Lamone. This time it's quite a pleasant reggae/soul floater from Matt Hoy featuring Dessy Di Lauro with a track titled 'Wonderland'.

It's due for release on Friday (14 May 2021), but you can listen to it in full on SoulTracks until then as I can't find it available anywhere else.

Dessy Di Lauro is an R&B/neo ragtime singer from L.A. (born in Montreal) who debuted in 2004. She has a great set of pipes, but her neo-ragtime material is an acquired taste, which I've yet to acquire!

Matt Hoy has been a member of the Ali Cambell's new UB40 since 2009. (UB40 featuring Ali Campbell, Astro & Mickey to give the band their full title as it appears to be a touchy subject with UB40 followers!)
