Priya Ragu [2021] - damnshestamil [Warner Records UK] (Full Album)

Priya Ragu (Ragupathylingam) from Zurich (of Sri Lankan heritage) released, what she terms as, her debut mixtape titled "damnshestamil" yesterday (3 Sep 2021). The standout track is one she released as her debut single last year "Good Love 2.0", which has been released several times with different mixes applied. Having said that, I found a track from her called "My Love" on BandCamp dated 2013.

The album is a bit of a mixed bag with some Asian vibes mixed in. The better tracks, along with "Good Love 2.0", are "Lighthouse" (but it goes a bit Asian/Bangra from 3 mins to the end) and "Forget About" (and possibly "Anything").

I'd actually 'forgotten about' featuring "Forget About" when it was released as a single in May.

She has also featured on Jungle's new album "Loving In Stereo" released on 13 Aug on the track "Goodbye My Love" which she co-wrote with one of the Jungle producers Joshua Lloyd-Watson.

Priya Ragu [2021] - Forgot About [Warner]

If you hadn't by now appreciated that R&B/soul is now global then how about this new release from Sri-Lankan/Swiss artist Priya Ragu. It's her third single this year released 10 May 2021. One of them is track from last year 'Good Love 2.0' that's had three different mixes, but the latest remix is not as good as the original which is not a bad 'bopper' (but with an obligatory rap for good measure!).

Although it is stated that 'Good Love 2.0' was her debut, she's been around a while as I found a single from 2013 on BandCamp.

Her 'debut' caught the attention of Rollingstone India who wrote a feature on her.
