Ken@Work [2023] - Rapturous [Springbok Records #SBK310]

No prizes for guessing what this new release "Rapturous" from Ken@Work may be based on, although it takes a while to get there! We don't know who the vocalist is, as she's not credited, but it's certainly not Anita Baker's vocals sampled. Ms Baker can sleep easy!

There are two versions included, the main mix and a Soulful House Mix. 

The original song "Caught Up In The Rapture" from "Rapture" (1986) was co-written by Garry Glenn and Dianne Quander.

Ken@Work is DJ/producer/remixer Ken Walker, originally from Edinburgh, now living in Melbourne, Australia. He's featured her a few times with various other mashups.

Ken@Work [2023] - It's A Soul Thing Original Mix [Pina Colada Records #PCR145]

Due on Friday (31 Mar '23) is "It's A Soul Thing" by Ken@Work which is a reworking/remix (however you wish to label it) of Connie Laverne's "Can't Live Without You". 

It was Laverne's only recording and was only issued as a same-sided (Mono/Stereo) white promo on GSF in 1974 and hence now commands four figures. It has been reissued several times, the latest by Outta Sight in 2021. Ralph Tee's Expansion label paired it with Phyllis Hyman's unreleased (on 7") 1974 version recorded for Roadshow Records in 2003. Hyman's version was first released on a Phyllis Hyman compilation "Remembered" on Roadshow in 1998.

Ken@Work [2022] - Can You Keep A Secret / In Need Indeed [Springbok Records]

Whilst we're on the re-workings (last post from Assal) here's another two bundled together on a release from yesterday (4 Feb 2022) by Ken@Work. 

The first is of ABC's 1982 pop hit "Poison Arrow" retitled "Can You Keep A Secret" and the second is Randy Crawford's "You Might Need Somebody" from 1981 retitled "In Need Indeed".
