GiddyGang was formed at Staffeldtsgate NLA College
in Oslo in 2019 after a group of classically trained musicians started
jamming together. The core band is Sarah Nærø Pettersen (vocals), Sigmund Vestrheim (drums), Bård Kristian Kylland (keys), Kevin Andersen (guitar) and Martin Stapnes (bass).
The band has garnered plaudits from artists including Robert Glasper,
Mac Ayres, and Jazzy Jeff, who actually featured on their single
"Queendom" (18 Aug) which appears on their new EP "Art Over Profit" released on 20 Sep.
The six track EP also includes their other two
singles this year, "Believe It" (6 Sep) and "Let Me In" (2 Jun). All
tracks feature Norwegian/South African rapper Vuyo.
The standout for us is "Sinking", a shorter, demo, version of which featured on their debut
album/mixtape "Giddy Mix" in Oct '20 (included below).
