Dawn Joseph [2022] - Up Front [Front Of House Records] (Full EP)

The name Dawn Joseph may well be known to you via being with The Brand New Heavies and more recently with fellow BNH member Jan Kincaid as MF Robots.

She was born and raised in Jersey, Channel Islands moving to London in early 2000 where she auditioned for a band, who signed a publishing deal with Sony,  and released a single that never really took off before becoming a solo artist as well as writing for various successful European artists.

Working as an in demand session singer, backing vocalists, bass player and guitarist she has worked with Phil Collins, Michael McDonald, Kylie Minogue, Craig David ,Ellie Goulding, Cee Lo Green, Rod Stewart, Rick Astley, Cliff Richard  and Spandau Ballet amongst others.

Dawn was invited by Jan Kincaid to join The Brand New Heavies in 2012, who she fronted for three years, until she and Kincaid left to form MF Robots who released their debut "The Night is Calling" in 2018. They have supported Lenny Kravitz, Chic, Joss Stone, and Beverley Knight as well as their own headline shows at London's Jazz Café in 2018, 2019, and 2021.

Dawn releases her first solo, five track, EP "Up Front" which contains two singles released earlier this year, "Free To Love" (Feb '22) and "America" (May '22). I think "Imitation Love" is the most likely of the three new songs to hit playlists and who knows, may feature in this week's UK Soul Chart Breakers show?
