Nanette (Nanette Sphesihle Nobethu Mbili) is a 20 year old
singer/songwriter from Johannesburg who released a debut album "Bad Weather" yesterday (27 May 2022). Four tracks have been drip fed as singles from
the album since January "Same Mistakes" (18 May), "mama's boy" (22 Apr), "Vent"(25 Mar), and "Dream Girl"(21 Jan)).
I've sampled a few of them over the months and decided to wait for the
full album before posting, but I have to say listening again "Dream Girl" in particular really stands out and is definitely my choice cut. I
think "Vent" had some radio plays when it was released as a single.
The album is pretty R&B oriented but she has a very good voice which
comes through on the more mellow tracks including "The Nice Guy" and "Same Mistakes". I think this album is a grower if you stick with it and could do quite
well. It's one of those where the samples (pre-release) don't do it
justice as you need to listen to the full tracks.
