When I first listened to this single "9 To 5" I immediately thought it sounded a bit like The Gap Band so I was therefore not surprised to discover that Dorian Paul (Williams) worked with The Gap Band and wrote several songs that appeared on their 80s albums. He also released several solo singles in the 80s/90s and an album in 1990 as Paul Williams.
He has performed with such greats as Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston and has produced not only The Gap band but also Yarborough & Peoples, Con Funk Shun, Dazz Band, Pieces of A Dream, Ollie Woodson of The Temptations but considers the highlight of his career singing background vocals for Celine Dion.
