A marvellous song played by Gary Van Den Bussche on his lunchtime show on
Starpoint Radio last week was this album only track from
Little Anthony & The Imperials featuring Deniece Williams
with the title track off a 2008 compilation "You'll Never Know".
It is certainly a new one to me and unfortunately there is no information
on the CD to give away who it was written by. However, with a little bit
of sleuthing I discovered it was written by
Mary Susan Ekler.
The album contains both new songs and new versions of old songs. There is another
pretty good track on i called "I Ain't Fallin'", so have also included that. They seem to be pretty cheap and easy to
find in the US but it doesn't appear to have been released anywhere
else.
Jerome Anthony "Little Anthony" Gourdine is now 81 years old. The group was formed in 1957 as The Chesters and were still performing up until 2018 at least, although Little Anthony left in 1975 for a career in acting, and, as you are probably aware, they were then known simply as The Imperials who had a few hits in the 70s.
