Well, this was a very pleasant surprise, an outstanding cover of Marvin
Gaye's 'Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)' from Lucky Daye (aka David Debrandon Brown), only available on
Spotify, released 21 May 2021.
It has been released to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Gaye's seminal album 'What's Going On' which was released exactly 50 years ago to the day on 21 May 1971. 'Mercy Mercy Me' was the second single released from the album on 10 Jun 1971, it was #1 R&B for two weeks and reached #4 on Billboard Hot 100..
There's also another track, 'Floods', a live recording of a track originally
released on his 2019 debut album 'Painted'.
Lucky Daye is from New Orleans reached the top 20 in fourth season of America's Got Talent in 2005 aged 19.
