Roger Williams [2022-09-06] - The Soulsorts Podcast [Podcast #17] - 2000's Indie Soul Archive 50 #2

Well Roger Williams is back with a vengeance, 3 hours and 18 minutes of some of the best tunes of 2022 on Sunday ("’22 Summer Choice Cuts 50 #1") and tonight the second in the "2000's Indie Soul Archive 50" series and another three and a half hours. That's seven and a half hours of superb soul music posted today for you to digest!

Roger states "Using music to distract you from the shit that life throws at you has its benefits I suppose . . . another trawl through the independent soul archives from the past 20 years, some you may know, some you might have forgotten about, some you might not know, but either way all revisits from old Soulsorts Radio Shows, and serious gems from start to finish".

A scan through the playlist and yet again there are plenty of new names and tunes that I don't recall hearing or if I have I've forgotten. An education! My partner can't understand why I only listen to soul music and here we have it, another three and a half hours of music I've probably never heard before!

The podcast is available on Mixcloud and Podomatic where you can also download it to listen offline.

UHANI [2022] - Triggered [BTMB]

UHANI is a new artist from Orange County, CA, who released her first single "Free" on 11 Feb 2022. Her second "Triggered" was released yesterday (5 Sep 2022).

I can find very little about her even though she has her own website as it gives little away but from song writing credits she may be Tiffany Ginger.

Dahlia Lovee [2022] - Flex EP [The Mastermind Music] (Full EP)

A new five track EP "Flex" from Dahlia Lovee (Tanisha Proctor from DMV) released today (6 Sep 2022) which is only her second release.

Her first was a single "Give Me Flowers" from Nov 2021 (included below) which is yet another using that recurring backing/sample and is full of expletives which renders it totally unplayable on radio.

The two picks from the EP are "Flex" and "Trust Me", coincidentally the only non-explicit tracks!

The Dirty Dozen - The Best Of 2022... Part 35 (Aug 2022 Wk 35 Pt.1 ) Spotify Playlist

SoulStrutter selections of the best releases this week
(Aug 2022 Wk 35 Part 1)
In no particular order other than tempo.

This week's Dirty Dozen has been delayed a day or two as there has simply been so much good music released over the weekend and the last week that it has been very difficult trying to decide what to leave out. After complaining over the summer months at the sparsity of quantity of good quality releases, thankfully, and hopefully now that we've got the silly season out of the way, things will improve.

I considered doing a Double Dozen but decided to split into a pair of dozens. This is Part 1, Part 2 will be posted separately.

Even though there is plenty of great material, it wasn't that difficult choosing this week's SoulStrutter Selection of the Week as the new album from J. Daphaney is outstanding. To be completely honest I was expecting a great deal after the title track was released a few weeks back, so was very pleasantly surprised.

An album track causing a buzz already that was only released on Sunday is "What Can We Do?" from IshMaleSings new album "A Hearts' Journey" which is more than a nod to "What's Going On".

Jamison Ross released his album "Jamo" on Friday and, in addition to the recent single, there are two good tracks, especially the duet with Avery*Sunshine.

A few more highlights include Loria Boban, Jessi M'Bengue and Gabrielle Gordon

A reminder that Raja-Nee's new album "The Sovereign of 14742" is NOT available digitally, it is only currently available on CD with an even more limited edition run of signed, coloured, vinyl to follow once they get out of the pressing plant. We still have some signed copes left but they are going fast and when they're gone they're gone, email soulstrutter@gmail.com for your copy. Note we are selling on behalf of, and all proceeds will go to, Raja-Nee' so that you save on US shipping charges.

Here's a selection of fifteen tracks, all predominantly released in the last week, that didn't quite make it into the premier league but these are too good to be ignored.
