Brooklyn's (NYC,) Kevin Holliday released "Out Of Me" yesterday (15Jun 2022) as his latest single. He reminds me of Prince so I had a scan through some of his earlier material, some of which sound even more like Prince! What do you think?

Roze Feat. Ty Benjamin [2022] - Bad Liar [Pretty Boy Worldwide]

When I first heard this I immediately thought of Navy, so it wasn't such a big surprise to discover that Roze is on the same label, Pretty Boy Entertainment. She is from Trinidad & Tobago and "Bad Liar" is her first single, released today (16 Jun 2022).

The video for it is shot in black & white in London's West End (she's filmed passing Ronnie Scott's club 30 seconds in, but the black cabs and telephone boxes are a dead giveaway!). The rap from Ty Benjamin kicks in around 2:05 for 40 seconds which was shot in the US (9th Street possibly NYC?).

Writing credits are to Ariadna Perez-Lopez and Tyler Gandy, so I would have a guess as to those being their respective real names?

B. Andre [2022] - Perfect Imperfections / Broken Records (EGO LP) [B.A. Records]

Just a couple of tracks, "Perfect Imperfections" and another curiously titled "Broken Record" (two with that title were posted yesterday by Alexa Givens and Justel), taken from the new album, "EGO" by B. Andre (Brandon Andre Riley) which was released on 3 Jun 2022. The remainder of the album is explicit  R&B and therefore not suitable for posting.

"Broken Record" was his last single released on 12 Feb 2022.

Kadeem Tyrell [2022] - As Time Goes By [Self Released] (Full Album)

Kadeem Tyrell from Battersea, London, is currently riding high at #2 on the latest Global Soul chart with "I Want You". 

He releases his debut album "As Time Goes By" today (16 Jun 2022). It includes his last five singles "I Want You", "Rider", "All My Love" with Omar, and "Simple Man" along with "How It Feels" from 2020. 

The new single will be "Let Me Know (The Cypher)" also released today.

He collaborates with current hot property Morgan Munroe on "Do Your Thing". I'm afraid to say, for me, he suffers living up to the the quality of "All My Love" which is very hard to top, but one of the other choice cuts from the new material would be "Forever And Always".

Betty Wright [2022] - The Deep City Recordings [Numero Group] (Full EP)

The Numero Group are on it again with a release today (16 Jun 2022) of a four track EP consisting of the first four solo recordings by Miami's Betty Wright titled "The Deep City Recordings".

All songs were written by Clarence 'Blowfly' Reid and Willie Clarke with his Deep City co-founder Johnny Pearsall (husband of Helene Smith featured a few days ago with a reissue of three of her tracks on Hit And Run) added to writers credits on "Good Lovin'. Betty Wright was just 12 years old when she recorded "Good Lovin'" and "Paralysed" and was backed by her sister Jeanette and Helene Smith. 

The story has it that Betty sang "Summertime" in Johnnny Pearsall's record store and he knew that he had to record her on his fledgling Deep City label.

"Mr. Lucky" and "Thank You Baby" were actually released on Solid Soul which appears to be the only release on the label, presumably related to Deep City?

Betty sadly left us two years ago on 10 May 2020 and a tribute and Discography where posted then if you wish to know more about her.

Nicole Chambers [2022] - All Day [Chambers Soul LTD]

Toronto's Nicole Chambers has a new single out today (16 Jun 2022) "All Day". Her recording career dates back to 2018 with now ten single and two EP's in her locker.

The latest single is a self-written song very reminiscent of a blend of Erykah Badu and Jill Scott.
