Louis York [2022] - Strawberry Skies [Weirdo Workshop]

One of the best releases of recent weeks comes from Louis York,"Strawberry Skies", which is simply timeless soul music that should appeal to all lovers of soul music. 

Oh dear, it was going great guns until 4:45 and then goes all uptempo and Latin, but all is not lost as the track is nearly 6 minutes long (5:56) so I'd suggest fading out at 4:44 as it's probably too long for radio anyway!

Nashville based Louis York is a band formed by Claude Kelly (vocals) and Chuck Harmony (Charles T. Harmon) in 2015. The name comes from combining their hometown names, Harmony's East St Louis and Kelly's New York.  They were already established songwriters/producers with hit credits for Michael and Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, Mary J. Blige, Toni Braxton, John Legend and many others.

The Groove Association Feat. Georgie B. [2022] - Living The Good Life (Stepper's Remix) [Self Released]

The new single from George Bromfield under the guise of The Groove Association featuring Georgie B.  is "Living The Good Life" released only via his website. There's a main mix and an extended VIP Mix and now a new "Stepper's Remix".

George was a member of 80s Brit-Funk band Second Image who released two albums and around a dozen singles between 1981-85. Six singles entered the UK pop chart but none quite made the Top 40.

Jon Vinyl & Avry [2022] - Favours [Vinyl Recordings]

Jon Vinyl collaborates with Avry on his latest single, "Favours", released last Friday (22 Apr 2022). Unusually favours is spelt the 'proper' way and not the Americanism (i.e. favors), perhaps because he's from Toronto where they haven't got around to bastardising the Queen's English yet 😉.

Avry is also Canadian, splitting his time between Vancouver and Toronto.

It's a mellow, soulful R&B tune on which they shared writing credits..

Gabriels [2022] - One And Only [Atlas Artists]

The latest single "One And Only" (released 27 Arr 2022) is probably the best track Gabriels have released since "Love and Hate in a Different Time" (which I still can't listen to without drawing comparisons to "I Heard It Through The Grapevine"). I'm sure this will appeal to some in the Northern Soul contingent and conversely others may hate it!

They certainly have their own distinctive and unique, gospel inspired, style and consist of lead singer Jacob Lusk (who appeared on American Idol season 10 in 2011) and producers Ari Balouzian and Ryan Hope. Formed in L.A. in 2016, they released their debut single 'Loyalty' in 2018 which was used in a Prada advert.

Sarah Mk [2022] - Wax & Gold [Self Released] (Full Album)

As alluded to on the post for Sarah Mk's pre-released single "MITTOS" from the then forthcoming album "Wax & Gold", the full album was released yesterday 27 Apr 2022.

Sarah Makonnen is from Montreal and released her debut album "Worth It" in 2011 and this appears to be her first full album since then.

Apart from the single "MITTOS", there are a few tracks worth highlighting such as "What You Don't Have (Explicit)", "Hey Richard", "Keep On" and "Ready".
