Uyemi [2021] - Mindful [JBY Records]

Uyemi (Uyemi-Oghena Oluwole) is the second artists today hailing from Calgary, Alberta (the other being Tendavillage), although she was born in Nigeria.

She emerged last year with a debut single "Don't Get In Your Way" and today (1 Dec 2021) releases her latest single "Mindful".

Blue Belly [2021] - Stay Home [Lighter Than Air Records]

Blue Belly are a four piece funk band of producers, instrumentalists and writers  Jonah Orbach (drums, vocals), Robert Feher (bass guitar/trumpet) and Darren Sacks (guitar/saxophone) and Matia Marks (vocals) from Sydney/Melbourne.

Only last week they released a remix of their first single "Bad Behaviour" and today (1 Dec 2021) have released a new single "Stay Home".

The Estimations [2021] - Heart of Stone / Don't Go Kissing My Baby [Kimberlite #KIM-006]

A long-awaited new release from both Kimberlite and The Estimations who's "Can't Do This To Me" sold out quickly and now commands three figures on the re-sale market.

This is how Kimberlite describe the new single due for release on 10 Dec 2021 but available to pre-order from 1 Dec:

"The A side, "Heart Of Stone" brings fuzz guitar, 4/4 drums, and a Levi Stubbs lead with haunting backing vocals to set a Norman-Whitfield-psychedelia-inspired soundscape for repressed lovers.  If you’ve spent your life getting hurt, it’s near impossible to trust and give yourself to someone completely.  This song is a hymn for the inhibited, rejected and pained out there who aren’t ready to get back in “the ring”.

Superloop [2000] - Baby Be Mine [SUPER LOOP #001]

I heard this played today on Gary Van den Bussche's excellent lunchtime show on Starpoint radio. It's a fairly obscure UK 12" release by Superloop called "Baby Be Mine" which  samples Teddy Pendergrass' 1978 classic "Close The Door". 

I don't know when it was released but would guess around 2000 give or take a year or two. They appear to be quite hard to find as there are none currently for sale on Discogs but seem to sell for between £20-£30.

Beware as they also released a track called "Be" that appears on a few compilations which is a completely different  song.

Tendavillage [2021] - A Tenda Universe [Unbound by Sound] (Full EP)

Tendavillage are a quartet from Calgary, Alberta (Canada) who's creative force is lead singer Kate Melvina who writes, produces and edits all material. They got some attention with their last single "Escargot and Risotto" (16 Jul) which is included on their sophomore six track EP "A Tenda Universe" released on 26 Nov 2021.

It's a pretty good EP all through but undoubtedly the killer track is the opening title "Waiting For Your Love".
