Terry Dexter [2023] - With You (Frankie Feliciano Classic Mixes) [Ricanstruction Records]

Currently sitting at #2 on the Traxsource Soulful House Top 100 is Terry Dexter "With You (Feliciano Classic Vocal Mix)" on Frankie Feliciano's Ricanstruction Records. 

Feliciano is a  New York DJ/producer (of Puerto Rican descent) who started out in 1990.

Terry was born in the Motor City now residing in L.A. She released her self-titled debut album in 1999 on Warner Bros. and followed it with "Listen" in 2008. Her voice and songwriting skills have been utilised by artists such as Patti LaBelle, Jaheim, Eric Benet, Will.I.Am, George Duke, Preston Glass and Michael McDonald.

She made her acting debut in 2003 as Valerie in 'Delivers Us From Eva' and has gone on to appear in anther three movies.

Raahz [2023] - Voyage [Araysun] (Full EP)

In June we came across a debut single, "Joyride", from Raahz (Rosalyn Jackson) from Charlotte, NC (which we chose as our SoulStrutter Selection of the Week). We suspected that it was based on a library backing, and have since come across it on a few more recordings. One only two weeks ago by Anne. "No Mistake." and prior to that King Creole "Kiss & Tell", we're sure there will be others.

On Friday Raahz released a seven track EP/album, "Voyage", which includes "Joyride". In addition, our choice cuts are "July Showers", "Honey" and "Chasing Love".

King Banton [2023] - Love Has Found It's Way [Noni Music]

A minor UK pop chart hit for Dennis Brown, peaking at #47 in the summer of 1982, "Love Has Found It's Way" is covered by King Banton 41 years later. The song was written by Brown and his wife Yvonne.

King Banton is Jamaican-American singer Lorne Wayne Gordon who began his career as a DJ  before becoming a roots reggae singer in the 80s influenced and mentored  by Brown. He relocated to the US and originally sang under the name Crissy/Chrissy Banton.

Luke Smith [2023] - Lockdown 2.0 [Self Released]

Luke Smith is a keyboardist from Manchester who has worked with renowned artists including Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston, Roy Ayers, Frank McComb, B. B. King, Rosie Gaines, BeBe & CeCe Winans, Andrae Crouch as well as pop/rock artists George Michael, Amy Winehouse, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins and Lulu. 

He spent two years with Hot Chocolate as their main keyboard player on their European tour in 1992. He later formed his own jazz band supporting Roy Ayres, Hugh Masekela and Earl Klugh among others.

In 1995 he moved to London as Music Director of the West End musical show 'Mama, I Want to Sing!'.

He began working with George Michael in 2003 on his "Patience" album and performed with him at the inaugural concert of the new Wembley Stadium in 2007.

Having been hospitalised with Covid-19 and in intensive care, Luke decided that if he survived that it was time to release solo material, as he didn't want his legacy  to be that he died with some great music on his hard drive! His debut single "Travellin'" was released in May 2020.

His latest single "Lockdown 2.0", is a jazz-funk instrumental which, not surprisingly, was written during Covid lockdown.

Luke featured here in  Nov '21 with a Linslee Remix of his third single "It's Time" which featured Roy Ayers and Em-Cee.

Keke Wyatt [2023] - Water Into Wine [Shanachie]

Ke'Tara Shavon 'Keke' Wyatt made her breakthrough aged only 15 when she recorded her superb duet with Avant on a cover of Rene & Angela's "My First Love" (1983) which was released two years later in 2000 by MCA.

To date she's released five solo albums with two others recorded between her first and second but unreleased ("Emotional Rollercoaster" and "Ghetto Rose"). She has since become an actress and reality TV star appearing on R&B Divas.

Her first single for several years, disregarding a couple of Christmas singles, is "Water Into Wine", her first since Feb 2019.
