The Dirty Dozen - The Best Of 2021... Part 34 (Sep 2021 Wk 38) Spotify Playlist

My selection of the best releases this week (Sep 2021 Wk 38)
In no particular order other than tempo.

I haven't been firing on all cylinders this week, caught some sort of virus (which thankfully isn't 'that' one), so have not found a great deal of new music this week which means fewer to select the best twelve from which you would 'think' would make it easier!

Ashanti Munir has slipped in, although technically its a remix so should have really been in the covers dozen but the original is only a matter of weeks old! So that another doesn't 'miss out' because of it, again this week it's a baker's dozen.

The mix starts off at funeral pace this week with Una Rams and a deep gospel tune from David Michael Wyatt and a quirky neo soul track from a debut EP by MeganV. The pace picks up thereafter.

The obvious choice cut from Anthony Hamilton's new album is "Threw It All Away" but by now regular visitors will know that I don't go with the obvious. I'm sure Anthony Hamilton's album will do well enough. So this week's Selection of the Week came down to basically a choice of three, Ashanti Munir, rejected as it's a remix, David Michael Wyatt "Prosper", which I accept is not going to appeal to everyone, but is a superb piece of contemporary deep gospel soul music. So, this week's choice is from Tarrey Torae with "IN TIME".

SoulStrutter Top 20 - 26th Sep 2021

The SoulStrutter Top 20 of the most viewed posts in the last 30 days (i.e. blog readers choices not mine!).

Inevitably all good things must come to an end and Carmichael Musiclover's four week run at the top ends as his 30 days since posting has expired, however he is still #2 in the rolling 30 days listing. I'd have liked to have used the rolling 30 day list but there appears to be issues/inaccuracies with it so this is the 'definitive' list of what's been viewed most in the last fixed 30 day period.

The most viewed post by a significant margin is Down To Earth with Regi Myrix, B. Golden and Victor Haynes all fighting it out closely for second place.

Anthony Hamilton's new album is the highest new entry at #6. Last week's Soul Strutter Selection of the Week by Vince Bryant enters at #12.

The Dirty Dozen - The Best Of 2021... Covers, Reissues, Remixes & Samples Part 27 (Sep 2021 Wk 38)

My selection of this week's best cover versions, remixes, reissues, previously unreleased and new songs using samples or new releases with a retro feel (Sep 2021 Wk 38). (In no particular order apart from tempo).

Mainly reissues this week with a couple of covers and  a few tracks using samples or being influenced by other songs.

Anthony Hamilton covers "Superstar" with the assistance of Jennifer Hudson and samples/is influenced by Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes "I Miss You" on "I Thought We Were In Love" on his new album.

Two tracks from Dyson's Faces self-titled 1977 album get a reissue, and first release, on 7" vinyl.  Another first timer on 7" vinyl by William Stuckey.

A couple of the outstanding tracks on a new Al Green compilation of orchestral rearrangements  "Give Me More Love".

John White's only album "Night People" got a digital reissue so here's his best selling single from that album.

The Intruders cover a song written and recorded by Earl Lassiter in 1992. New Italian outfit The Hal Mingo Project release a homage to Barry White's "I've Go So Much to Give".

LeGrand Whitt's album track is heavily influenced by "Inner City Blues" and finally new artist Blair Perkins samples Teena Marie's "Deja Vu (I've Been Here Before)" on "Good".
