Devon Howard [2022] - Your Love Is (DJ Pope Funkhut Mix) [Self Released]

Devon Howard has had recent success with several remixes of "Forever & Always" and released "Your Love Is" on 6 May 2022 which is the second single from a forthcoming album "Morning Son". 

Today a new "DJ Pope Funkhut Mix" has appeared for it. Also included below is a video for the original version not available when the single was posted in May as the video was only released on 1 Jul 2022.

Devon is a singer/songwriter from Baltimore, MD, who grew up listening to his father's record collection which consisted of the likes of The Manhattans, Stylistics and Commodores. He was a member of several groups including Me-2-U who released a self-titled album on RCA in 1993 and subsequently three singles from it. He was known then as DeVaughn Howard.

His debut solo project "DH" was released in 2008 followed by "Return To Love" in 2015, therefore, "Morning Son" will be his third solo album.

Raja-Nee' [2022] - Take My Breath / Breathe [JARF Music Group] NEW VIDEO

The latest single from Raja-Nee' "Take My Breath" was released on 11 Aug 2022. Raja-Nee' has uploaded a new video for it today (22 Aug 2022) on her YouTube channel.

It will be the fourth single to be released from her forthcoming album "The Sovereign of 14742" preceded by "Come Get This Love" (Jul 2021),  "Love In A Groove" (Oct 2021) and her last "Rolling At Midnight" (Apr 2022), however the album version is the previously unreleased "Midnight Vibe Mix". 

The single comes bundled with a surprise bonus track "Breathe" which features Anthony Thompson which is an alternate take on "Take My Breathe Away" that is not included on her forthcoming album. The song was originally released on her 2018 EP "Don't Marry Her" and is the basis for the latest single. Anthony Thompson is a producer friend of Raj-Nee's (also known as 12 Tones) who added the 'Breathe' elements and some other vocals.

The new album has twelve tracks with two interludes, so putting the four singles already released to one side, there are six new songs. One is a cover of the Bacharach & David song "One Less Bell To Answer", possibly best know by The Fifth Dimension (1970) with Marilyn McCoo on lead vocals, but also recorded by many others including Gladys Knight & The Pips, The Dells, Dionne Warwick, Barbara Streisand and Shirley Bassey, so very big shoes to fill on that one and she does a terrific job. I believe that there are at least another three tracks which have potential for future singles.

The forthcoming album is dedicated to Raja-Nee's parents and the title is a reference to the address she grew up in at 14742 Lincoln Avenue, Harvey, IL. Raja-Nee tells us: "The entire cd is dedicated to my parents. That’s why you see all of the old pictures. My parents, my 8 siblings, both grandmothers (mother & father), Auntie, my daughter and husband. They are all important to who I am and who I’ve become. So it’s all about them!"

Raja-Nee' was 'discovered' by Marshall Thompson (founder of The Chi-Lites) who mentored her and she toured with The Chi-Lites and performed on their 1990 "Just Say You Love Me" album. Later she signed to a deal with Auto & Cherokee who got her an audition with Jimmy Jam Harris and Terry Lewis which led to a solo project on their Perspective label where they produced her hit track "Turn It Up" which also featured on "Low Down Dirty Shame" movie soundtrack in 1994. She released a few singles and an album "Hot & Ready" and had a UK #42 hit with 'Turn It Up' in Mar 1995.

In 2020 she re-emerged from her musical hiatus with a vengeance with "Come Get This Love" making a big noise, especially in the UK, and gaining a vinyl release on LRK Records.

Rainy Milo [2022] - Blessings [Limey]

Rainy Milo is from south east London of British/Guyanese descent who debuted in 2012 with a mixtape "Limey". Since then she's released a full album "This Thing Of Ours" (2015), a couple of EP and around six or seven singles.

Her latest single "Blessings" is out today (22 Aug 2022) for which a video will be premiering at 18:00 (BST).

Lindsey Webster Feat. Randy Brecker [2022] - Stay With Me [Shanchie #SH5499]

The lead single from Lindsey Webster's forthcoming album "Reasons", "Stay With Me" features Randy Brecker, on flugelhorn who, with his brother Micheal, formed  jazz fusion duo The Brecker Brothers in 1975 after a spells with Blood, Sweat & Tears, Horace Silver Quintet, Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers and Dreams.

Initially we were told when posting the promo on 6 Aug that the single was scheduled for release on 8 Aug with the album dropping on 9 Sep 2022. The single was actually only released on Friday (19 Aug 2022) but is the highest new entry on this week's UK Soul Chart entering at #10.
