Swatkins & Raquel Rodriguez [2022] - Lottery [The Positive Agenda]

Swatkins and Raquel Rodriguez have teamed up for  a new single released today "Lottery". They are touring the west coast of the US this month billed as The Lottery Tour with six dates confirmed so far staring in Raquel's base L.A. on 20 Jul though to the 30 Jul ending in Swatkins hometown Portland.

Swatkins (Steve Watkins) is from L.A. and has been a member of Allen Stone's band since 2013.

Jerry Bell [2022] - Tell Me You’ll Stay / Call On Me [Expansion #EXS035]

You may recall a couple of weeks ago Jerry Bell released a new single "Keep It Real". He was a member of New Birth and then Dazz Band before embarking on a solo career. He recorded just one solo album "Winter Love Affair" for MCA in 1981 from which these two tracks have been sourced for a new 7" single by Expansion Record.

"Tell Me You’ll Stay" has been an album only track until now and gets its first release on 7", whilst "Call On Me" was released as a B side to "Love Will Make It Right" in 1981. Both songs were written by Michael Wycoff.

Jerry is the younger brother of Archie and cousin to Thom Bell, Robert 'Kool' Bell (Kool & The Gang) and Al Bell founder of Stax Records.

As with the Grady Tate single posted on Wednesday, this is available to pre-order now from Simply Soul for release late August. They are not listed yet on Expansion's website.

Joyce Sims [2022] - What You Won't Do For Love [August Rose Records]

A new single from 80s veteran Joyce Sims with yet another cover of Bobby Caldwell's "What You Won't Do For Love" (which makes it the third or fourth in the last year from recollection) which is due for release next Friday (22 Jul 2022) from a forthcoming album "Change". Sims' version takes the pace up a notch or two from Caldwell's 1978  original

She had several big club hits in the 80s ("(You Are My) All And All" (1985) and "Lifetime Love" and "Come Into My Life" (video included below) (both1987), and released two albums in the 80s and has recorded a further four between 2006 and 2014, although two are compilations of previous hits.
