Izo FitzRoy [2021] - Everybody Knows This Ain't Right [Jalapeno Records]

Izo (Izobel) FitzRoy is from London and broke through in 2017 with her debut album "Skyline" and followed it up with "How The Mighty Fall" in 2019. Her latest single was released today (2 Jul 2021) and it's a cracker. A fusion of soul, blues and gospel.

The sleeve, deliberately, or otherwise, likens her to Dusty Springfield, but she has a better, more soulful and powerful voice than Dusty! She has one of the most soulful white female voices I've heard.

A definite for this week's "Dirty Dozen"!

Myea [2021] - Rose Gold [Self Released] (Full Album)

Myea is an artist from Baltimore, MD, who released an album ("Soulizm") last year and an handful of singles, two of which appear on this, her second, album, "Neva Get Enough" released last Dec. and the current single "Line" released to coincide with the album release.

I think she may be the same artist who was known as Myea E. (Myea Angelina Elleby). She was born in Florence, SC, grew up in Richmond VA and moved to Baltimore and released some material around 2017, then aged 20.

The best tracks, to my ears, are "D4L", "Crush". and the previous single "Neve Get Enough".

Maddy is a 23 yr old singer from Brighton. She is a member of  S.O.L Collective, and singer for Quiet Man.
