CLAY (Gabrielle Walter-Clay) is a singer-songwriter from San Francisco now
based in L.A. She first (and last) featured here back in March on
a single "WTSGD" (When The Sun Goes Down) with Grammy award winning Canadian singer/songwriter Alessia Cara (Alessia
Caracciolo). She has since released another two singles and her debut EP "Breathing Into Bloom" which have passed us by.
Her latest single, out today, may be a bit of a Marmite song to many. Yes,
it's a cover of The Beatles song "strawberry fields forever", which I must confess I didn't particularly take to as you would
hardly call it soul music, but I think you'll agree CLAY has put her own
unique spin on it. I still don't know if you'd classify it as soul music but
I like it in a perverse way!
It also comes bundled with a cover of Elvis' "Love Me Tender" to boot!
