Slowe [2023] - Calibrate [Tru Thoughts]

The fifth and ultimate track from the forthcoming album "Where The Mind Wanders" by Slowe (Sophia Hawes from Bristol) which is due for release on 28 Jul.

We've posted three of them "WYLTK" (Nov '22), "Fix Me Up" (Mar '23) and "Stay Right Here" (May '23) omitting "Superego" (Jan '23).

The latest one is "Calibrate" released 6 Jun which she states is her favourite track to date, "This song is the one I'm most proud of"  with inspiration taken from artsists such as Tyler, The Creator and Tame Impala. 

The floating guitar riff is by Snazzback member Eli Jitsuto with Samuel Fox adding vintage synth, fuzzy bass and the spacey drum break. which results in a jazzy production with psychedelic undertones.

Dusty Springfield [2022] - Dusty Sings Soul [Ace #CDCHD 1612] (Full Album)

Whilst 'plundering' the new vinyl singles due from Kent Select I noticed this compilation out the same day (25 Mar 2022) from parent Ace.

"Dusty Sings Soul" does what it says on the title, Dusty Springfield singing 60s soul songs and in Tony Rounce's (Ace) words "is a long overdue and carefully curated collection of recordings from Dusty’s 60s singles and albums, designed to demonstrate that she was not only the UK’s finest female singer but also its finest soul singer of her era and, for many, of all time. There is no shortage of Dusty compilations out there, but this is the first one to exclusively concentrate on this particular side of this great artist’s work.".
