We were reminded of this album "I'm Waiting" by SingTreece by the release of the title track as a
single and also by Starpoint Radio's Mike Prior yesterday.
We skimmed it a few weeks ago when released but felt that there was
material of higher priority to post. However, we've revisited it and our
choice cut remains "Wait On Me" along with "I'm Waiting".
We get the distinct feeling that these songs may have been in the can for
a while as many of the songs sounds rather dated, which is not meant as a criticism,
just an observation. It appears that it was released in 2013 (with the same songs but in a different order) but still sounds older than that!
SingTrece is Elbonee LaTrece McLaurin (nee Stevenson) from Erie
County, PA / Ithaca, NY. As with so many soul singers began singing in
church before learning opera. She has sung in musical theatre productions
of "Dream Girls" (as Effie), The Wiz (Glinda) and several others as well
as the movie "Manhattan Front".
Elbonee is a playwright, director, actress, singer, songwriter, mother, wife
and is currently working on a documentary about activist Dorothy Cotton. which
will be released later this year.
