Derric Gobourne Jr. from Sarasota, FL, is multi-talented,
he's a singer, dancer, rapper, songwriter, producer, choreographer,
fashion designer and actor. He was inspired by Michael Jackson at the
age of five after watching the "Thriller " video and went to to
impersonate him. He became a member of performing arts
troupe, Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe, and debuted in 2014 as
Little Stevie Wonder in a show 'Best Of Stevie Wonder".
He is part of a 21st Century New Jack Swing revival, which is perhaps
why we have not come across him before.
His new album "Until: Summer Songs Inspired by a Hummingbird" is his fourth since his 2018 debut "Supremacy". There are a couple of New Jack Swing style tracks, one with a MJ
'yelp'!, and a house track.
The standouts are a cover of Mikki Bleu's "Until" (from his debut album "I Promise" (1989), so good that it's included
twice, and "Out of This Bed" feat. Jazzmin Carson. which is an original song. Also, "Song For You/Strings for a Hummingbird" is well worth a listen.
