Ava Cherry's career goes way back to 1972 when she met, and became involved with,
David Bowie and became a backing vocalist for him and featured on his "Young Americans" album on which, an as yet unknown, Luther
Vandross was also a backing singer.
She is back in 2022 on Cool Million's Sedsoul label with a new single "Love Shines So Bright" written by David A. Tobin and Cool Million's Rob Hardt.
She has released around five solo albums between 1980-97 and another in
2010 with her 1997 "Spend The Night" album reissued in 2021. From 2010 she self-released a number of singles
and from 2020 four are available on DSP's including the latest one.
As well as Bowie, Ms Cherry has also appeared on albums with Gavin
Christopher, Luther Vandross, Doc Powell, Paul Young, and Sly Stone amongst
others and was also a backing singer for Chaka Khan.
This year also saw the publication of her autobiography "All That Glitters: The Ava Cherry Story".
