Tygressa [2023] - This Is How We Do! [Self Released] PROMO

We were first introduced to Dr. Tygressa Jones when she sent us her debut single  "Hey You (A Minute With You)" in Jun '21. It went on to top the UK Soul Chart for several weeks and then she promptly followed it two weeks later with a four track EP "A Minute With You".

Tygressa is from Fort Washington, MD, and regularly performs tribute shows "Tygressa Sings Natalie…Remembering Natalie Cole, a tribute".

She has gone on to release four more singles including her rendition of "White Christmas" last Christmas and a cover of Sylvia's "Pillow Talk" in April this year (along with a retro video for it) to celebrate it's 50th anniversary.

Her latest single "This Is How We Do!" is out on Friday (30 Jun).

Tygressa [2023] - Pillow Talk [Self Released]

Last week we posted the promo for Tygressa's latest single which is a cover of a classic 70s tune "Pillow Talk" recorded by Sylvia Robinson. It is officially released today (3 May '23) with a sleeve image of a 45. Whether or not that means it will be available on vinyl we do not know, however, the reasoning behind the cover is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its original release by Sylvia on Vibration. A music video has also been provided which begins with a retro scene of Tygressa in 70s regalia.

Sylvia Robinson was behind Sugar Hill Records, and her original version was posted along with an unreleased version by Janet Jackson (and a couple of others) in Dec '22.

Tygressa (Jones) hit #1 with her debut release  "Hey You (A Minute With You)" in Jul '21. If you recall, she is from Fort Washington, MD, and regularly performs tribute shows "Tygressa Sings Natalie…Remembering Natalie Cole, a tribute".

Apart from her version of "White Christmas" released at the end on Nov last year, it is her first single for a year since "My Love's Coming Down" in Feb '22.

If you wish to learn more about Tygressa, then our good friend Steve Aggasild interviewed her in Aug '21 just after she broke through (interview below).

Tygressa [2022] - My Love's Coming Down [Self Released]

Tygressa, Dr. Tygressa Jones to give her full title, releases a new single next Sunday (27 Feb 2022). From recollection I think it's her third since her debut on 1 Jul last year with her UK #1 hit "Hey You! (A Minute With You)".

"My Love's Coming Down" has a driving 90's style groove, although Tygressa states that the, self-written, song is inspired by 70s funk/rock group Mother's Finest who had Joyce Kennedy on lead vocals.

Tygressa [2021] - Shake It For You [Self Released]

Tygressa Jones released her debut single "Hey You (A Minute With You)" on 2 Jul which hit the top of the UK Soul charts and followed it up with a four track EP "A Minute With You" two weeks later.

She is back with a brand new single "Shake It For You" which is set for release this Friday (8 Oct 2021). As with her debut the song was self-written and produced by Terry '20' Poindexter. The new song has a similar stepper's feel to her debut.

A Washington D.C. native, she was an Apollo winner and regularly performs her show "Tygressa Sings Natalie ... Remembering Natalie Cole, a tribute"
