Say She She [2024] - In The Morning [BBE]

Originally given away as a bonus 7" white label promo by Karma Chief for buyers purchasing Say She She's debut album "Prism" (Oct '22) from Bandcamp. This song, "In The Morning", is the first track to be pre-released from a 19 track BBE compilation "The Craig Charles Trunk of Funk Vol. 3" due on 5 July and is available digitally for the first time.

The single's B side is another unreleased song "Leave You Behind".

The girl trio performed the song live at The New Colossus Festival in Brooklyn, NYC, (their home territory) in March '22 (video below).

Say She She [2023] - Silver [Karma Chief] (Full Album)

With six of the sixteen tracks already released, the sophomore album, "Silver", from Brooklyn trio Say She She was released last week (29 Sep) by Colemine's Karma Chief imprint. It follows their debut "Prism" released exactly a year ago on 7 Oct '22.

Their sound is a nod to late 70’s girl groups led by three female lead voices, Piya Malik (El Michels Affair), Sabrina Mileo Cunningham and Nya Gazelle Brown and includes former members of the Dap-Kings, The Extraordinaires and members of funk band Orgone. 

They released their debut single, "Forget Me Not", in Feb '22 which wasn't included on "Prism" but appears on the new album. It sounds very reminiscent to The Tom Tom Club (husband and wife Chirs Franz & Tina Weymouth set up as a side project of Talking Heads) to these ears.

An acquired taste for sure and probably not one for the soul purists,(and we're struggling to class this as soul music .. more pop we would say)  but our choice cut from the new material is "The Water".

Say She She [2023] - Astral Plane [Karma Chief] (Full EP)

Ahead of the full album "Silver" due on 29 Sep, Colemine's Karma Chief imprint has released, what appears to be, a six track EP "Astral Plane" today. However, it includes five songs already released as singles, so presumably is just a teaser/preview of the full album evolving as new tracks are released as singles. The only new song is "Astral Plane".

Recent recruits to the Colemine stable, Say She She, we find a bit hit 'n miss, but their latest single "Don't You Dare Stop" (which is also released on 7" vinyl as the flip to their March "Reeling") has to be one of their best yet.

Say She She are a group from Brooklyn, NYC, with a sound that's a nod to late 70’s girl groups led by three female lead voices, Piya Malik (El Michels Affair), Sabrina Mileo Cunningham and Nya Gazelle Brown and includes former members of the Dap-Kings, The Extraordinaires and members of funk band Orgone. Their name is a play on Chic's C'est Chic album.

Say She She [2022] - Prism [Karma Chief Records] (Full Album)

An odd name for a group is Say She She you may think but it's a deliberate play on Chic's sophomore 1978 album "C'est Chic" (the one that had "Le Freak" (#1 Hot 100 and R&B) and "I Want Your Love" on).

Say She She are a group from Brooklyn, NYC, with a sound that's a nod to late 70’s girl groups led by three female lead voices, Piya Malik (El Michels Affair), Sabrina Mileo Cunningham and Nya Gazelle Brown and includes former members of the Dap-Kings, The Extraordinaires and members of funk band Orgone.

The title track of their debut album "Prism" was the lead single released on 23 Aug 2022 with the full album being released on Friday (7 Oct 2022) via Colemine imprint Karma Chief.

Their debut single "Forget Me Not" from Feb 2022 is not on the album (nor are the three other singles released since). The album is a bit of an eclectic mix, probably not one for the purists!
