Jazmine Sullivan [2022] - Stand Up [RCA]

A new single "Stand Up" by Jazmine Sullivan is from a forthcoming movie soundtrack for "Till" which is a story of the civil rights activist mother of a teenage black boy (Emmett Till) who was lynched and killed by white supremacists in 1955 for whistling at a white girl.

The song brings out the soulful side of Ms Sullivan who has a terrific voice but, as with Beyonce, she seems to be steered to more commercial R&B material for the youngsters, so us soulies have to accept the crumbs from the table when we can get them.

Adam Blackstone & Jazmine Sullivan [2022] - 'Round Midnight [BASSic Black Entertainment Records]

Philadelphia based producer, songwriter, bassist, multi-instrumentalist, engineer, musical director Adam Blackstone was born in Trenton, NJ, and is the son of Jazz musician Rod Blackstone. 

With his wife he set up BASSic Black Entertainment (BBE) in 2009 specialising in in live music production, connecting musicians and studio production and the BBE label followed in 2013.

Whilst focussing on other artists he has yet to record anything himself but he has a debut album "Legacy" scheduled for release on 23 Sep 2022 which boasts a roster of guests including Kirk Franklin, Queen Latifah, The Baylor Project, Jazmine Sullivan, Cory Henry, Robert Glasper and Jill Scott amongst their ranks.

To launch the album the lead single from it is "'Round Midnight" featuring fellow Philadelphian Jazmine Sullivan is released today.  The recording includes The BBE Big Band with special guests Questlove and James Poyser.

Sullivan has an unreleased version of the 1943 Thelonious Monk written song that has been floating around the internet (included below) but now has an official recorded version.

Jazmine Sullivan [2022] - Heaux Tales, Mo' Tales: The Deluxe [RCA] (Full Album)

Just over a year after she released "Heaux Tales" on 8 Jan 2021, Jazmine Sullivan releases "Heaux Tales, Mo' Tales: The Deluxe" today (11 Feb 2022) which is "Heaux Tales" (1-14) plus another ten new tracks (15-24).

Focussing just on the new tracks the best of the bunch, for me, are "Hurt Me So Good" and "Roster". "Tragic" was released as a single in Jun 2021.
